MTV AwardsIn October 2014 I got a message that I’ve won a trip to the MTV music awards in Glasgow. At first I couldn’t believe it, I was so overwhelmed. But I knew it was going to be absolutely amazing. The MTV awards were on the 9th of November. I flew that morning from Schiphol airport to Glasgow, it was only a 1,5 hour flight, but the time distances in Glasgow is one hour so basically you only had to flew half an hour. Everything was arranged. I stayed in the Premier Inn Hotel right across the Hydro Arena and I had a perfect room with an extraordinary view (and with a goodie bag full with make-up on my pillow).
Right after I dumped my stuff in the room I decided to check out the city centre of Glasgow because I still had 4 hours left before the awards started. I had to get used to the fact that they are driving on the other side of the road than in the Netherlands. They also walk on the other side of the stairs, so weird! So I literally bumped into a lot of people, which was kind of embarrassing. I liked the city centre, there were a lot of nice and big shops and everywhere you walked you could hear street musicians play their instruments. I didn’t had much time left to explore the whole city, but I did walked along the main shopping street called ‘Buchanan Street’. So around six o’clock I was back at our hotel room and I was getting ready for the evening. The MTV awards started at 8 o’clock and it was really amazing! I saw a lot of celebrities like Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Enrique Iglesias and Alicia keys. I enjoyed every single minute of it! After the awards there was a after party specially organized for winners like me from all over the world. But I was so tired that I got a cab back to the hotel around 12 o’clock, The next day I was supposed to fly around 4 o’clock. So I got up early to discover the other side of Glasgow. I went to the soccer stadium from the Glasgow Rangers and bought some souvenirs to take home. Thereafter I went to a large supermarket to buy some typical Scottish sweets, I always like to visit supermarkets in other countries because they have such different things than we have. All with All, it was a unbelievable and unforgettable trip. I really loved every second of it and I would like to visit Glasgow again in the future!
