This holiday was a little bit different than the other ones. Instead of a hotel we stayed in a tent on a youth campsite in Spain. The name of the camping was ‘La Masia’ which means ‘Farmhouse’. I have no idea why it’s called that way, because it didn’t looked like a farmhouse at all (Since when do farmhouses have palm trees and swimming pools?). It was just a camping with a lot of tents, and on the other side of the camping a few bungalows. The camping had two swimming pools which were really nice. But the sanitary of the camping wasn’t good at all. The lightning was weak and you’ve had to take your own toilet paper (which looks ridiculous). But my friend (Linn) and I figured out that there was another sanitary building on the other side of the camping which was super clean and renovated. The only disadvantage of that building was that you’ve had to walk like ten minutes.
We stayed in a very small tent with only two beds. But I guess that’s what you get when you only have to pay €70,- for a ten days holiday haha. The reason why we stayed on a youth campsite was because I’ve won a travel card from Beach Masters which was worth €250,-. Beach masters is a youth travel agency and they organise all kind of holidays with only one specific goal: get drunk and get laid. They seriously motivate you to become so drunk that you won’t even remember your whole holiday. And if you know me, you would know that I don’t drink alcohol so I was kind of in the wrong place. So Linn and I decided to just explore Blanes and discover all the cultural things on our own. The camping was five minutes away from the beach, so you could just walk on your flip flops and jump in the ocean right away. The ocean had lovely temperature and also the beach was very nice to lay down on. The city centre was a little bit further to walk, I guess it was like ten minutes or so. The city centre of Blanes wasn’t very big, it’s not a city where you can go shopping or whatever. They do have a lot of restaurants, unfortunately 50% of the restaurants are Dutch. Linn and I often went to the beach in the evening because we like to watch ocean by night. But after a couple of minutes we were disturbed by dark men. They ask you to come to some kind of club, and it doesn’t matter how many times you say ‘NO’, they won’t leave you alone until you are coming with them. After some days we figured out that the only thing that helps is to just act like you’re crazy and that you don’t understand any of their languages. Just stare at them without saying anything! They eventually will walk away haha. But let’s talk about something nice. For example, we went to Barcelona one day with the train. It only costs you €11,- and it’s a one and a half hour ride. We watched many cultural things in Barcelona, like the Sagrada Familia. Furthermore, we went to a water park for one day. The water park was in a village next to Blanes, called Lloret de mar. I guess it was a 15 minutes ride. The tickets for the park are very expensive, you had to pay €30,- per person. But the park was amazing! We had a lot of fun in the water slides and whirlpools. All with all, I wouldn’t recommend to go to Blanes if you aren’t a partying animal. We only went there because I had won the travel card and we just had to pay €70,- extra. I don’t regret this holiday at all, it was fantastic and we met a lot of nice people! But that’s because we made it fantastic by our own (but without alcohol and embarrassing parties).
